What: A workshop on search leadership for search chairs and department chairs. Two date options are (choose one): 12/14; 12 - 2 p.m. HMSU 307, box lunch provided, 12/15; 12 - 2 p.m. HMSU 307, box lunch provided. The content includes these parts:
Information about the faculty search process and its mechanics (e.g., timelines, advertising, search budget provided, candidate tracking system, Affirmative Action interface, etc.
Managing the process, including search chair/department chair interface and communication
Legal issues & good practice
Search team building and problem troubleshooting
Building a diverse pool & tools and techniques
to increase the chances for a diverse hire
Student/alumni/faculty presentation on why faculty diversity matters
How: Register for one of the two workshops no later than 24 hours in advance by contacting Academic Affairs at x2307 or emailing Donna Royse at Donna.Royse@indstate.edu. Participants receive an augment of $50 each to the departmental travel budget and a letter of completion suitable for a portfolio.
Why: The success of a search is strongly impacted by search chair and department chair leadership. Their ability to establish clarity on process and roles, set the right tone for a search, troubleshoot problems, and integrate good search practices is critical.
