What: A workshop for search chairs and their committees. Options in January:
1/20 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. HMSU Room 407
1/21 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Both in HMSU Room 407
The content includes these parts:
Search Committee good practice as well as role plays/problem simulation on typical search issues/dynamics that can arise and threaten the success or effectiveness of a search.
Breakout time for search chairs with their committees to engage in planning and strategy for search execution.
Workshop concludes with a student/alumni/faculty presentation on why a diverse faculty matters.
How: Search chairs register their search teams no less than 24 hours before their desired workshop date by contacting Pamela Allison in Academic Affairs (Pamela.Allison@indstate.edu); x2307). Participants receive an augment of $35 to their departmental travel budget and a letter of completion suitable for a portfolio. Persons outside of ISU on a search team may request a $35 honorarium.
Why: The success of a search is directly related to the strength of the search team. Search teams need the skills and tools to conduct an effective search and to establish a strong working relationship, something often shortchanged in the haste to address the tasks a search requires.
