Freshwater Systems

The objective of this seminar is to give students experience in the field of limnology (the study of lakes and river systems), ideally making them more aware of how lakes and rivers function, how we study them, and some of the major concerns regarding human use and impact on lake ecosystems. The course is designed to provide students with basic exposure to the most important physical, biological, and chemical cycles that occur in freshwater systems and to provide them with the experience of collecting data and using field and laboratory equipment.
