GH 301: Feminist Philosophies
Course Description
In this course, we will examine the contribution of feminist theory to philosophical inquiry. Specifically, the course addresses formative concepts in feminist philosophy and varieties of feminist theories such as Marxist, Postcolonial, African-American, Postmodern, and Poststructuralist. At issue will be how feminist philosophy has responded to difference as well as accounted for some of the gaps in traditional philosophical frameworks.
Learning Objectives
Our task will be to examine the philosophical content of feminist theorizing, sharpen our skills in philosophical analysis, and create deeper appreciation of the diversity of the philosophical tradition through reading, writing, and class discussion.
