What do you like most about being an Honors student?

The thing I love most about being an Honors student is the sense of community I have been able to develop by being a part of the Honors College. The Honors College faculty/staff and fellow Honors students are some amazing people and have really made ISU feel like my second home.

Leadership and involvement at STATE:

At ISU, I’m involved in the Honors Council, I currently serve as Secretary for both the Pre-PA Association and Sycamores for Life, I’m the Weekly Events Leader for Campus Ministry at St. Joe’s Parish, and this is my 2nd year as an Honors Peer Mentor. With these organizations I’ve been able to get involved in many volunteer opportunities like the Samaritan Food Pantry and fundraising for the CPC of the Wabash Valley, as well as gone on some fun trips like going to the March for Life in DC and canoe trips and pilgrimages with my church.

What advice do you have for incoming Honors students?

Don’t be afraid to try new things! Really take this opportunity in your new environment at ISU to join new clubs, attend different events, and meet new people. I have really enjoyed my time at ISU so far, and I attribute that entirely to my decision to get involved right away when I first arrived here. The worst that can happen is you realize that something isn’t for you, and nothing says you have to stick with it if you find other things you enjoy more!
