What do you like most about being an Honors student?

I love the atmosphere in Honors College. The students are all hard working and care about schoolwork while wanting to have fun. The Honors Council is always planning stuff for you to do. I enjoy getting to take really unique courses over regular general classes. I have taken my GH 101 Leadership: When It Is Your Turn, GH 201 Banned, Censored, and Challenged, and GH 301 Stranger Things. I would recommend any of these.  I also love how much the Honors College staff really want to get to know you and are so willing to help with whatever you need.

Leadership and involvement at STATE:

This will be my third time being an Honors Peer Mentor. I am also currently a Nonprofit Leadership Student Worker for the Nonprofit Leadership Minor. I also help run NLSA, which is the Nonprofit Leadership Service Association. I am involved in Delight Women Ministries, which has been such a blessing. I am a University Honors Scholar as well, so I had the amazing opportunity of meeting so many of the leaders and staff of the university through that.

What advice do you have for incoming Honors students?

Do not be afraid to ask questions and ask for help. All of the freshmen are in the same boat as you and they probably have wondered about the same question. Try to step out of your comfort zone! The best way to meet new people and learn more about yourself is to just try things you never thought you would do.
