Internships

Practical experience through internships is an excellent teacher, so the ISU Accounting program encourages students to obtain as much accounting work experience as possible. Whether it is part-time accounting work during the regular semester, working full-time during the summers, there are many area firms that need and want accounting students as employees.

Accounting majors participate in internships in a wide variety of companies, from "Big-4" accounting firms to private companies. Some students choose to earn academic credit in conjunction with their internship while others prefer to have only the professional experience. Those who wish to earn academic credit must complete a partnership agreement with the company and the accounting program coordinator prior to enrolling in the internship course. Internships allow students the opportunity to apply knowledge learned in the classroom and experience career interests.
