Ron Carpenter is the president of the Indiana State University Foundation. Prior to joining the ISU Foundation in August 2012, Ron served as the president and CEO of the Children's bureau of Indianapolis, Inc. He has more than 35 years of non-profit leadership, management and fundraising experience. He has also served as a faculty member for the University of Indianapolis and the Indiana Child Development Institute.
Ron earned his bachelor's degree in criminology from Indiana State in 1977 and completed a master's degree, also in criminology, in 1982. Both of his parents and his son, Jacob, are also Indiana State alumni. He is a past president of the Alumni Association Board, a former chair of the ISU Board of Trustees. Ron led the search that hired Dan Bradley, the current president of Indiana State.
Ron has been involved in numerous community organizations and is a past president of the Indiana Youth Services Association and the Lacy Leadership Association Board. A member of Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, he has served on the boards of the Greater Indianapolis Exchange Club Foundation, Cancer Support Community and the Agency Executive Council and Campaign Cabinet of the United Way of Central Indiana. He also has served as a coach for youth football. Ron has been recognized with numerous awards for his service to children and was a 1998 recipient of Indiana State's Distinguished Alumni Award.
