Lisa Spence
Lisa Spence is the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and
Chief Information Officer. In this role, she is responsible for
centralized institutional information technology services and
infrastructure. She is also responsible for partnering with
institutional administrative and academic departments to create and
maintain strategic plans for the implementation and use of information
technology to serve ISU’s needs into the future.
Lisa joined the Office of Information Technology in August 2011, bringing over 26 years of diverse information
technology implementation and management experience to the position. Prior to joining ISU, she was the
Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology Operations for the University System of Georgia. She
also has served in information technology leadership roles at two institutions in Georgia: from 2007 to 2010
she was Director of Information Technology Services at Georgia Tech; and from 2001 to 2007 she was the
Chief Information Officer at Georgia Southern University.
Lisa has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Mississippi State University, and worked in a number
of IT roles in industry before moving to higher education. She holds an EdD in Educational Administration from
Georgia Southern University.
