Undergraduate - Distance Learners
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS | INSTRUCTIONS | DEADLINES

IMPORTANT: International students who enroll entirely in distance learning are not eligible to obtain (or retain)
a student visa (I-20 eligibility). For clarification, visit the University's International Affairs Center.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Due to the variety of educational systems throughout the world, applications are reviewed individually by Indiana State University. Consideration is given to academic potential, English language proficiency, and other evidence that the applicant has the potential for success in university studies.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS
Applicants normally receive a response within three weeks of all application materials, including:
- Completed application
- Application fee: $25.00 (U.S.) non-refundable
- Official transcripts
- Official TOEFL scores (unless exempt)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Application for admission
Applicants who have no prior enrollment in a U.S. college or university should submit the International Undergraduate--Freshman online application.
Applicants who have earned credit (or a degree) from an accredited U.S. college or university should complete the International Undergraduate--Transfer online application.
- Fill out the application form completely.
- Use your name as it appears on your passport.
- It is vital to use the same name on all correspondence to ISU. Write clearly, and underline the family name under which all items are filed.
- If you do not have a U.S. social security number, leave this item blank, and the University will assign you a University identification number.
- Write your address as you would on an envelope to be mailed to yourself.
- Include your street and number (or post office box), city/US IP code, province/state/zone, postal code, and country.
2. Application fee: $25.00 (U.S.)
The application fee is payable by Visa, Mastercard--or check or international money order made payable to Indiana State University. Submit the application fee to the Office of Admissions, Indiana State University.
Please note the application fee is non-refundable.
3. Official transcripts and credential evaluation
- APPLICANTS who have earned 24 (or more) transferable hours must submit official transcripts
from all U.S. colleges and universities attended to:

Typically, no other academic transcripts are required.
- APPLICANTS who have earned fewered than 24 transferable hours must submit official (or school certified)
transcripts of ALL academic records (secondary and post-secondary) to:

NOTE: Transferable hours are restricted to courses in which the applicant earned a grade of C or higher, and courses at the 100-level (and above) from regionally accredited U.S. colleges and universities.
4. Official TOEFL scores
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is normally required as indication of English language proficiency. For exceptions, see TOEFL exemptions.
Applicants who are not exempt must submit official TOEFL scores that satisfy the following requirements to the Office of Admissions, Indiana State University.
- Business majors: A minimum iBT score of 80; a minimum CBT score of 213;
or a minimum paper-based test score of 550
- All other majors: A minimum iBT score of 61; a minimum CBT score of 173; or a minimum paper-based score of 500
Intensive language training is available through the Interlink Language Center, if the applicant's TOEFL score is lower than the requirements listed above.
IMPORTANT: To be official, TOEFL scores must be reported directly from Educational Testing Services (ETS) to Indiana State University. When submitting TOEFL scores, the institution code for Indiana State University is 1322. Applicants whose TOEFL scores are more than two years old will need to retake the TOEFL exam--and submit new scores. For details (or to schedule a TOEFL test), visit www.ets.org
DEADLINES
To ensure full consideration, application materials must be received before the following dates. Early application is encouraged.

Second summer session......July 1
Applications received after these deadlines will be accepted and every attempt made to ensure admission for the desired semester or term.
