The Department of African and African American Studies offers an undergraduate major and minor.
The undergraduate major requires 39 credit hours. A major requires an 18 credit core area, which provides students a grounding in intellectual and historical trends in African and African American culture, as well as the opportunity to conduct advanced research in the field. Students also have a wide array of elective courses from which to choose, dealing with politics, history, music, literature, and so forth. You can find complete information about the undergraduate program by visiting the African and African American Studies Major Requirements webpage.
The undergraduate minor requires 24 credit hours. A minor degree will also provide students a strong grounding in African and African American culture. For information on the requirements of a Minor in African and African American culture, visit the African and African American Studies Minor Requirements webpage.
