Alumni Association
Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients
The Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented annually at Homecoming
in recognition of notable achievement reflecting honor and distinction
upon the Alma Mater. The awards honor living alumni who have been outstanding
in their professional achievements and/or have made significant achievements
and/or have made significant contributions benefiting their community,
state or country. Indiana State University first presented Distinguished
Alumni Awards in 1957.
Recipients are chosen from nominations which are submitted by Alumni,
faculty, and friends of the University. The seven member selection committee
is composed of alumni, faculty and staff by the President of the University
and the President of the Alumni Association.
The awards traditionally are presented by the President of Indiana
State University Alumni Association in the presence of the President
of the University during the Homecoming Banquet. Recipients receive
a plaque bearing their name, the seal of the University, and the text:
In Recognition of Notable Achievement Reflecting Honor and Distinction
on Alma Mater.
In addition to recognition by fellow alumni, University faculty,
administrators, family and friends at the Homecoming Banquet, the Distinguished
Alumni Award recipients ride in the Homecoming Parade and are presented
for public acclaim at the Homecoming Game at Memorial Stadium.
