
A 1972 graduate of Indiana State University in radio, television and
speech, Beth Konrad began her pioneering career in broadcasting as
one of America's first women network anchors at Network ABC-FM in
Chicago. She continued her journalism career at radio stations in
the Detroit and San Francisco markets. She eventually moved to the
medium of television, where she worked as director of public affairs
and editorials for Detroit's WDIV-TV. She continued to work in
Detroit until 2002, serving as vice president of community resources
and program development for WTVS, the PBS affiliate there, and
senior vice president and director of public affairs for Bank One
Corporation.
In 1995 she helped establish Konrad & Moore Inc., a firm
specializing in communications consulting, strategic planning, and
media and presentation training. She continues to serve as the
firm's president. Its clients have included General Motors, the Ford
Motor Company, Verizon Wireless and Detroit Renaissance, Inc.
She currently shares her considerable knowledge of broadcasting and journalism with students at Loyola University in Chicago, where she hold s a full-time teaching position in the Communications Department. She teaches courses in broadcast journalism, communications process and practice and interviewing. She also conducts research in the future of public television, the past and future use of broadcast editorials and the ethics of interviewing minors.
She has been active in professional organizations on state, regional and national levels. She is a member of the Executive Club of Chicago, the Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Broadcast Education Association, the Chicago Headline Club and the Society of Professional Journalists. Her contributions to her profession and her community have been recognized with numerous awards.
In addition to her bachelor's degree from Indiana State, Konrad earned a master of arts degree in communications from Wayne State University.
