IPE Research Works in Progress

Currently facilitating an IPE research team that includes Louise Anderson ISU/AHEC, Peter Duong of IU Med, Shaun Grammer, PA program, and Erik Southard, APN dept. (Susan Eley was also a member before becoming APN Chair).  We are working on recruiting 3 other U.S. study sites (ISU=Midwest site, plus Northeast, South and West regions) for a HRSA grant opportunity in rural health, and are engaged in grant-writing for a national study of IP clinical practice and patient-centered care in rural hospitals.

Wrote a national version of the IP collaborative clinical practice study for HRSA's National Rural Health Research Center grant package that was submitted by an IRHA-ISU-IU partnership. We should know if we will be awarded a National Rural Health Research Center in our region by late September.

The IPE research team is developing an experimental version of IPE650X Interprofessional Rural Healthcare Delivery Clinical Practice course for the IP Collaborative Clinical Practice study in Blackboard for educational purposes should the Rural Health Research Center's IPE study be funded; if the Center is not funded, we will still be able to incorporate and implement the IPE clinical course from a curricular development standpoint with advanced practice students in medicine, nursing, PA and other relevant health professions programs.

Working on IPE-based programming and dissemination type of writing with folks at IRHA.

Incorporating IPE-based activities with students as they design and implement graduate-level service learning projects in designated online nursing administration practicum courses with community stakeholders working in rural health facilities in Indiana and across the U.S.
