Indiana Occupational Therapy Association Conference April, 13th (click here for more info)
PROGRAM
MISSION
The mission of the Occupational Therapy
program is to
provide competent health care providers
who possess basic skills as a health
care provider, consultant, educator,
manager, researcher, and advocate for
the profession and the consumer. In
addition the program seeks to improve
patient access and quality care for
rural and underserved populations
through interprofessional education.
PROGRAM STATUS:
The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education
(ACOTE) has granted candidacy status for Indiana State
University’s Master of Science program in occupational
therapy. This action permits the university to admit
students into the program as scheduled in May 2013.
In granting candidacy status, ACOTE is acknowledging that
the program demonstrates potential for achieving compliance
with its accreditation standards. The council cited as
strengths a thoughtful candidacy application, a thorough
curriculum design based on the mission of the occupational
therapy program and the mission of the university and a
thorough and appropriate strategic plan.
The council cited only one area of concern, that the
program’s application addressed the philosophy of learning
but not the philosophy of occupational therapy and said the
program director should ensure that this concern is fully
addressed in the program’s initial self-study report.
