Admission Criteria (print version)

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • An earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or
    • Demonstrate an earned baccalaureate degree from institutions outside the United States
      and to have completed at least one year or 24 semester credits of additional
      coursework at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States
      prior to application.

  • Indiana State University does not offer advanced placement.

  • Completed the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) within the past 5 years.
    Indiana State University school code is 1322. (Must retake if scores older than 5 years). Both "old" and new 2011 Pattern accepted. NOTE: Indiana State University does accept MCAT scores in place of the GRE.
     
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 550, when the native language is not English

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Personal statement explaining why the applicant wants to become a physician assistant

  • Proficiency in medical terminology (highly recommended)
    • Demonstration of proficiency may include providing evidence of 1 of the following:
      • Licensure or certification as a health care provider
      • Medical terminology coursework on a transcript
      • Completion of a self-study module
        (The program will offer a self-study module as needed to be completed prior to matriculation.)

  • Preference will be given to residents of Indiana and those interested in Rural Health Medicine.
  • Healthcare Experience is not required but highly encouraged. There are no specific hours.
