Note: Plans called for construction of an underground grille and
lounge and a three story office structure to "link" the Tirey
Memorial Student Union with the south annex - the old Elks
building. The office space was constructed to house union staff,
activities and student organization offices. The structure was
designed as a "gateway" to the campus quadrangle.
Formerly know as the Link building of the Tirey Memorial Union complex, the structure was completed for the use by the Student services division in 1972. In 1992 it was re- named in honor of Alan Carson Rankin, seventh president of the institution (1965-1975)
