Biography

Charlotte Schweitzer Burford graduated in 1898 from Indiana State Normal School. In 1902, Burford joined the school's faculty and in 1910 was appointed dean of women. Burford, who received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1959, gave her position a dignity and status that was recognized throughout the nation. She served with outstanding distinction as dean until her retirement in 1946.
