ISNS athletes introduce the games of basketball and football to the school. Random contests were arranged by competing teams
November, The Normal Advance begins publication. This publication evolves into the Indiana Statesman, the school newspaper. The June issue gradually becomes the school annual, later the Sycamore Yearbook An Athletic Association was formed by the ISNS students.
ISNS becomes a member of the Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic Association

October, The Women's League was formed to organize sorority activities and work for the concerns of women at ISNS. The Department of Physical Education (men) and the Department of Physical Education (women) were established
The football team organizes its first full season of six football games
ISNS offers a formal Summer School program for the first time. Earlier summer courses had been private initiatives by individual faculty.
The Basketball team organizes its first full season of competition. Reports indicated that the new sport was becoming quite popular, although structural columns in the middle of the gym floor hampered play
