September 23, Over 1,000 students held a protest meeting in the Student Union to object to the anticipated Board of Trustees action to name Dr. Ralph Watson President of ISTC. The Board took no action and moved to reconsider. Dr. Ralph N. Tirey had resigned the presidency of ISTC in June

Old Stalker Hall, the power plant, and finally the old powerhouse smoke stack standing in the middle of the present quad were razed. These were the last structures of the old Normal School to be destroyed to make the quadrangle.
