Documents that have passed their period of usefulness may be separated from the files and should be destroyed. Transitory material is found with-in correspondence and subject files in most offices and departments.
The following categories of papers generally may be eliminated from files since these papers are usually without value.
Do not send these documents to the Archives Records Center unless it is an unduplicated document related to a historical event, program or function.
