The graphic design program offers
a comprehensive professional design education. The program
emphasizes formal design values, thus preparing students to
creatively apply visual aesthetics to problems of human
communication. Students are instructed in corporate identity,
typography, symbol design, photo-illustration, layout, drawn
design, packaging, and computer graphics design.
While the graphic design
program is practical and professional, it is also strongly
theory-oriented. The arrangement of studio and laboratory spaces
complements the professional tone of the graphic design program.
Rooms are organized similarly to a large corporate design
studio, enabling students to have individual professional
spaces. A media area, Macintosh computer room, and separate
critique spaces enhance the business-like setting. A unique
esprit de corps and energy are present within the program and
contribute an essential ingredient to the learning experience.
