SYCAMORES FALL 12-2 TO WICHITA STATE
WICHITA, Kan.
– The Indiana State baseball team fell for the second
consecutive game to the No. 11 Wichita State Shockers at Eck
Stadium on Saturday afternoon (March 24). Despite a pair of
RBI’s from Casey Martin, the Sycamores fell 12-2 in seven
innings. ISU dropped to 9-9, 0-2 MVC while the Shockers improved
to 20-5, 2-0 MVC.
Martin, a sophomore
from Chesterton, Ind., belted his second home run of the season
in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 11-2. Earlier
in the third, he drove in a runner by reaching on a fielder’s
choice with the bases loaded. Martin went 1-for-3 in the game
with a pair of RBI’s and a run scored.
Ryan Tatusko, who
entered the game with a 3-1 record and a low ERA near 1.25, had
trouble with the Shockers as he took his second loss of the
season. Tatusko, went 1.1 innings, allowing eight hits and seven
runs.
Sean Osborne, Dave
Brumagin and Chris Schmidt also picked up hits for the Sycamores
in the game. Matt Shelton pitched 4.2 innings of relief,
striking out seven and allowing four runs.
Indiana State returns
to action on Sunday, March 25 with the third and final game of
the Valley weekend series against the Shockers. First pitch is
set for 2:00 p.m. (ET). The game can be heard live locally on
WISU-FM (89.7).
