INDIANA STATE FALLS IN FINAL GAME OF SERIES AT WICHITA STATE

WICHITA, Kan. – Indiana State dropped the third game of this weekend’s Missouri Valley Conference series to No. 11 Wichita State by a score of 12-3 this afternoon (March 25). The Sycamores fall to 9-10, 0-3 MVC while the Shockers improve to 21-5, 3-0 MVC.

Indiana State raced out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Schmidt led off the game with an infield bunt single and moved to third on a fielder’s choice and error off the bat of Andrew Strange. Schmidt scored first on a ground out by Ryan Bond. With Strange standing at second, Dave Brumagin pounded a two-out homerun just over the left field fence to give ISU the three run advantage.

The Shockers pounded out 13 hits and scored 12 runs over the rest of the game to walk away with a 12-3 victory.

The Sycamores received multi-hit games from Brumagin, Brett Siegmund and Strange. All three went 2-for-4 with Brumagin adding a pair of RBI’s. Bond went 1-for-4 with an RBI as well.

Adam Lindsay earned the start for the Sycamores, working two and two thirds innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out a pair. He took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season.

Indiana State looks to get back on the winning track March 27 when they travel to Illinois for a single non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. (ET).
