TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Jessica Crowder won her second race of the season as the Indiana State cross country teams competed at the ISU Invitational on Saturday morning at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Junior Aaron Harding and sophomore Jordan Fife led the men's team to a third place finish, while the women came in fourth.
Crowder, who won the Sycamore Pride meet in early September, tied her 6K personal best time of 21:47, finishing 12 seconds ahead of Lyndsi Gay, who finished second for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes of Ohio State took the women's race with 30 points. Air Force (66) and Southern Illinois (115) came in second and third, followed by the Sycamores (126).
Freshman Maile Venable (23:28) finished 31st to lead a slew of Sycamores who came in between 30 and 50. Fellow freshmen Dani Prince (23:29) and Laura Engle (23:33) came in 33rd and 35th, followed by junior Carol Linneweber (23:41) and senior Amber Bucci (23:46), who finished 39th and 41st.
Another pair of freshmen (Leah Durr and Jillian Yorn) came in at 44th and 47th, while sophomore Jenel Darland took 50th.
Air Force easily won the men's race, taking the first six spots. Chris Acs was the individual winner with a time of 24:38. Eastern Illinois came in second with 65 points, with ISU next with 98 points.
Harding (26:10) and Fife (26:12) finished right after one another in 19th and 20th places. Sophomore John Nay (26:21) and junior Dustin Strosnider (26:23) took 23rd and 24th, while two more Sycamores finished right after each other as senior Josh Kendall (26:59) and junior Craig Dismore (27:04) finished 37th and 38th.
