WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ADDS TO 2004 CLASS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State women's cross country coach John Gartland announced the signing of Karla Negron to a National Letter of Intent to run cross country and track for the Sycamores beginning next season.
Negron is a distance runner and pole vaulter from Lawrence North High School. She is the second runner (Heather Stembridge ? Evansville North Central) to sign with ISU during the early signing period.
Accomplishments: Negron finished 31st in the 2003 Indiana State Cross Country Meet in 15:16, helping her Lawrence North team to a third-place finish. She ran 14:49 at the Franklin Central Semi-State Meet to finish 10th. Negron took fourth at the Brebeuf Regional with a time of 15:12. This past spring, she ran on Lawrence North's 4 x 800-meter team, which finished third in the Indiana Track and Field State Meet. Negron was 18th in the 3200-meters in the 2002 state meet and she competed in the state cross country meet as a sophomore. Indiana State Assistant Coach Angela Martin was one of Negron's coaches in 2002.
Gartland on Negron: “We are getting an outstanding athlete in Karla. She has been an excellent cross country runner this past fall, and she has just begun learning the vault. She should help us in both areas.”
