THREE SYCAMORES
EARN SCHOLAR-ATHLETE HONORS
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Three
Indiana State cross country runners earned Missouri Valley Conference
Scholar-Athlete honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday
(Nov. 2). Jordan Fife (Seymour, Ind.),
and Aaron Harding (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren
Central HS), were named to the men’s scholar-athlete
cross country team, while Laura Engle (Terre
Haute, Ind./South HS) was named to the women’s scholar-athlete
team.
Fife carries a 3.59 grade point average in Social
Studies Education, while Harding, a finance major, holds a 3.04
GPA. Both runners, along with teammate Sean Bowman (Nashville,
Ind./Brown County HS) were named to the 2004 MVC Men’s All-Conference
Cross Country Team as a result of their performances at the conference
championships on Saturday (Oct. 30).
Harding finished the meet in third place with
a time of 25:29.16. Fife came across the finish line with a time
of 25:58.14 to claim seventh place, while Bowman was eighth, at
25:59.33.
Engle, a sophomore majoring in Art, carries
a 4.0 GPA. Those student-athletes eligible for the scholar-athlete
team must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA (4.0 scale). Students-athletes
must have reached at least sophomore academic and athletic standing
at their institutions, and they must have completed at least one
full academic year at their institution.
