speed and a proven ability to get open, Sycamore
quarterbacks will be looking for Carl Berman
when they know a catch needs to be made.
2005 — Posted 55
catches for a total of 593 yards and a
team-leading five touchdowns ... Averaged 10.8
yards per catch ... His 55 catches tied the
school’s previous record for receptions in a
season, a record which was also eclipsed by Sam
Logan ... His 42-yard touchdown reception from
Blayne Baggett against Southern Illinois was the
Sycamores’ longest scoring play from scrimmage
during the year ... Was used heavily in punt
return situations, corralling nine kicks for a
return average of 1.7 yards ... Tied with Sam
Logan for second place on the team in scoring
with 30 points ... Eclipsed the 100-yard
receiving mark on two separate occasions,

arm of Jake Schiff versus Eastern Illinois ...
Led the squad with his best game of the season
against Youngstown State in which he made four
receptions for 38 yards ... Paced the team with
17 punt returns, for a total of 61 yards and a
long of 11 ... Returned one kickoff for 22 yards
... Parlayed his receiving and returning skills
into 268 all-purpose yards, which ranked
fifth-best on the team.
High School — Berman
enjoyed a fine career at Boca Ciega (Fla.) High
School where he was a two-way player. Hauling in
39 receptions for 705 yards and six touchdowns
as a wide receiver .... Berman was just as
effective on defense where he intercepted five
passes as a free safety ... An all-conference
and all-county performer, he was selected to the
Pinnelas County All-Star Football Game where he
was named offensive MVP after collecting 107
all-purpose yards and scoring a touchdown ... A
four-year letterwinner, Berman was named co-MVP
following his senior season.
