DESPITE CAREER-HIGH
SYCAMORES FALL AT DRAKE 76-59
DES MOINES, Iowa – Despite a career-high
17 points from junior Russell Trudeau, Indiana State dropped their
fifth straight conference game falling against the Drake Bulldogs
76-59. Drake used a balanced offensive attack with five players
in double figures to improve their record to 10-7 (3-3) while Indiana
State is now 8-6 (1-5).
The Sycamores trailed the Bulldogs at the half 36-31, despite game-highs
in the first 20 minutes from Trudeau (nine) and junior Trent Wurtz
with eight. Wurtz finished the game with 11 points and led the team
in rebounds with four. Sophomore Gabe Moore was the only other double-digit
scorer for ISU, finishing the game with 13 on 5-7 shooting from
the floor, including a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc.
The Bulldogs had greater success on the boards then the Sycamores
during the night, out rebounding the visiting team 33-23 and led
in field goal percentage 53%-44%. Indiana State did find success
from three-point land shooting 52% compared to Drake’s 47%.
The Sycamores will face their next conference test at home on Sunday
against the Creighton Bluejays with tip-off scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
