SYCAMORES ON LOSING
END IN SECOND MEETING WITH REDBIRDS
NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State wasn’t
able to repeat the results earlier in the year and fell to Illinois
State on the road Wednesday 75-48. The Sycamores dropped their tenth
straight after an 8-0 start and now stand 8-10 and 1-9 in conference.
The Redbirds improved their record to a similar 8-10 and 3-7 in
conference.
Indiana State got the better of the Redbirds in the teams’
first meeting of the season with a 69-59 win at home in overtime.
However, the Sycamores trailed 16-14 early in the first half and
couldn’t stay close to Illinois State after a 14-2 run put
the Redbirds up 30-16 with 1:54 in the half.
Illinois State would take a 37-21 lead into the half and stayed
on top throughout the second half. The Sycamores wouldn’t
get any closer than 15 in the final twenty minutes and shot 31%
to come up in the losing effort 75-48.
Indiana State was led by Jay Tunnell and Tyson Schnitker each with
eight points, while Neil Plank turned in 15 points for the Redbirds.
The Sycamores will return home on Sunday and look to return to
the winning track against the Missouri State Bears. Indiana State
will have payback on their minds after a 97-78 loss in Springfield
on December 30.
