SYCMORES FALL 83-56
AT NORTHERN IOWA

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Indiana State fell to
a nationally ranked Northern Iowa team 83-56 in the UNI Dome on
Saturday and dropped to 9-12 (2-11 in conference) while the Panthers
improved to 20-4 (10-3 in conference).
UNI was led by a trio of double-digit scoring performances by Grant
Stout, Travis Brown and John Little with 17, 16 and 11 points respectively
and dominated the Sycamores on the boards with a 41-24 advantage.
Stout and Brown shot a collective 14-17 from the field, with Stout
also collecting a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Sycamores were led in scoring by Gabe Moore with 10 points
in a team-high 35 minutes on the floor. David Moss tallied four
of ISU’s nine assists, but struggled from the field, shooting
4-12 during the game for a total of nine points.
The Panthers used a 16-3 run in the middle of the first half to
bring their lead to 20 with 2:37 remaining in the half. The lead
would hold for the home team through the half with a 47-31 advantage
going into the break.
Following half-time, UNI used a second run of 18-4 over the first
6:30 minutes to cushion the already double-digit lead and the Sycamores
wouldn’t get any closer than 25 down the stretch. The final
score of 83-56 was the Sycamores worse loss since a similar 27-point
defeat at Illinois State on January 25.
The men tallied a 1-1 record on the Southern Illinois/UNI road
trip and will return to the Hulman Center February 8 to face Bradley.
Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
