Box Score
NORMAL, Ill. – Despite a strong defensive
effort, the Indiana State women’s soccer team dropped its
second match of the weekend in a 0-1 decision to the Illinois State
Redbirds on Sunday afternoon in Normal, Illinois. The loss drops
the Sycamores to .500 on the season (7-7-0 overall, 2-2-0 conference)
while Illinois State picks up its first conference win of the season
for an overall record of 4-7-3 and 1-2-1 in conference.
Sycamore keeper Rachel Rudzis would tally seven saves on 21 Redbird
shots, but it would be a shot in the 16th minute that would seal
the win for Illinois State.
The Redbirds’ Meghan Boller collected a cross from Carrie
Schurr to score her first goal of the season in front of a diving
Rudzis. The goal would be the only one for either side during the
game in the defensive showdown.
Lauren Podolski would lead the Sycamores in shots with two shots
on goal on three shots. Amanda Wisnewski of Illinois State collected
game-highs of six shots with two on goal.
The team will look to get back on the winning track when the Sycamores
conclude the conference season with home matches against Creighton
on Friday, Oct. 20 at 3:00 p.m. and Drake University on Sunday at
1:00 p.m. in conjunction with senior day.
