INDIANA STATE ADVANCES TO MVC TOURNAMENT
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -
Despite being rained out this past Sunday at Drake, the Indiana
State Sycamores have qualified for the State Farm MVC Softball
Tournament for the first time since 2000.
ISU, the tournament's No. 8 seed, will face
off against the No. 5 seed Evansville in the opening game of the
championship on May 10 to be held in Normal, Ill. ISU and the Purple
Aces battle beginning at Noon (EST).
For the first time in the history of the
league, eight of the tournament's 10 teams have qualified for the
single elimination championship.
If the Indiana State defeats Evansville,
they will have to come right back and face No. 4 Wichita State at 5
p.m. on May 10.
Should the Sycamores win twice on Thursday,
they would advance to face off against No. 1 seeded Creighton in the
first semifinal game on May 11. First pitch for that contest is set
for 1:00 p.m.
On Saturday, May 12, Valley TV
cameras will showcase the Redbird Softball Complex in Normal, Ill.,
for the 2:30 p.m. (ET) telecast of the championship game. The
championship contest will be shown live at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on May 12
on Fox College Sports, Comcast SportsNet and Metro Sports -- the
league’s production company which is based in Kansas City, Mo. The
game will also be cleared on FSN Midwest on tape-delay at 6:30 p.m.
on May 12 and 12:30 p.m. on May 13.
