February 7, 2006 Carruthers Garners Athlete of the Week Honors ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State senior Jason Carruthers was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (2/7) for his performance at the Hoosier Relays over the weekend. This is the second time this year that Carruthers has picked up conference honors. The native of Marietta, Georgia threw a provisional qualifying distance of 66’-5” in the 35 lb. weight throw at the Hoosier Relays over the weekend. The throw bested that of league leader Mark Milleville for first place at the meet, but was short of Carruthers’ season-best throw of 66’-7.25”. The team will next travel to Ames, Iowa to take part in the Iowa
State Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
