SYCAMORES TRAVEL TO IOWA STATE INVITATIONAL THIS WEEKEND

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State track and field will travel to Ames, Iowa this weekend and compete at the Iowa State Invitational. The meet is one of the biggest for the Sycamores this year and will put the team up against athletes from the Big 12, Big 10, Missouri Valley and various other Division I programs.

In 2005, Laura Engle ran a 9:56.76 time in the 3,000-meter run to place 15th while Santia Spight’s jump of 5’5” in the high jump tied her for 12th.

For the men, Jordan Fife crossed the line in eighth place after an 8:13.45 time in the 3,000-meter run. Jason Carruthers threw a distance of 62’3” on his final attempt in the 35 lb. weight throw and finished in 10th place. Jerry Clopton was the top Sycamore sprinter with a 13th place finish in the 200-meter dash.

The meet in Ames is an important stop for the Sycamores in posting seeding times for the MVC Indoor Championships being held in two weeks. The competition will begin on Thursday with the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon followed by preliminaries on Friday for the majority of events and finals on Saturday.
