TRAUB AND BRIDGES GARNER WEEKLY CONFERENCE AWARD

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Seniors Drew Traub and Janae Bridges were named the Missouri Valley Conference Field Athletes of the Week today, after a strong showing at the Alex Wilson Invitational over the weekend. The award was the first for each athlete this year and the seventh time that athletes from Indiana State have been honored during the indoor season.

Traub threw a provisional mark in the shot put at the Alex Wilson Invitational over the weekend. The distance of 58’6.5” was good enough for a third place finish, but the senior’s season-best 59’2.75” distance at the MVC Indoor Championships didn’t qualify him for the NCAA championships and places him 34th in the nation. Traub also threw a season-best mark in the 35 lb. weight throw with a fifth-place 60’1.75” finish.

Bridges improved her season-best mark in the long jump by four inches at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The mark of 19’5.5” also set a new personal best for the senior and puts her No. 2 all-time in Indiana State history.

With the conclusion of the indoor season, the men and women will prepare to move the action outdoors with the first meet scheduled on March 25 in Carbondale, Illinois.
