COMPETITION AT THE USA T&F CHAMPIONSHIPS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – Indiana State freshman
Sean Wright and assistant coach Aubrey Herring each advanced to
the finals of their respective events in the final days of the USA
Track and Field Championships/Junior Championships on the campus
of IUPUI over the weekend. Senior Charlie Sparks also competed for
Indiana State on the final day of competition in the men’s
discus.
Wright finished eighth in the junior men’s 400-meter dash
and was one of four athletes with collegiate ties in the finals.
The native of South Bend, Indiana was the only competitor in the
finals with collegiate ties east of the Mississippi and finished
with a time of 47.36.
Herring, a former All-American and NCAA Champion for Indiana State,
breezed through the preliminary round and semi-finals of the men’s
110-meter hurdles with a tenth-place 13.68 and seventh-place 13.48
marks, respectively. In the finals, Herring crossed the line in
seventh with a time of 13.45 in a race that was determined by tenths

The competition marks the end of the track and field season at
for 2005-06. The short turn around begins for cross country runners
when the countdown for the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships
in Terre Haute begins with the Sycamore Pride meet on August 26.
