BRIDGES AND CLOPTON SHARE WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONORS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State seniors Janae Bridges and Jerry Clopton were named the Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (5/9) for their performance at the Billy Hayes Invitational. It was each athletes’ first award this year and first of their career.

Apart from running the lead-off leg of the third-place men’s 4 x 100-meter relay (41.74) and anchor in the second-place 4 x 400-meter relay (3:10.51), Clopton ran a season-best and conference-best time of 21.06 in the men’s 200-meter dash, finishing second at the Billy Hayes Invitational.

In addition to winning the long jump at the Billy Hayes Invitational with a mark of 18 feet 11.25 inches, Bridges also set a season-best time in the women’s 200-meter dash with a fourth-place time of 24.77.

The men and women will compete for the MVC Outdoor Championships this weekend when they travel to Wichita State for the three-day meet Friday through Sunday.
