INDIANA STATE TO HOST FIRST ROUND
OF WNIT
TERRE
HAUTE, Ind. –
Indiana
State (26-5), the nation’s program with the highest number of
wins to not receive an invitation into the NCAA Tournament, has
accepted a bid to the 2006 Women’s National Invitation
Tournament. The Sycamores will open tournament play on Thursday,
March 16 versus Eastern Michigan. The action at Hulman
Center
is scheduled to begin at
7:05 p.m.
(EST).
While disappointed about not
being including amongst the 64 teams that qualified for NCAA
play, the Sycamores’ are highly anticipating its third bid to
the WNIT in the last four seasons. Tickets for what should be a
hotly-contested affair will go on sale, Tuesday, March 14 at the
Hulman Center Box Office, beginning at Noon (EST). The cost of
tickets will be $9, while ISU students as well as youth, ages 18
and under, will be admitted for $5.
Season ticket holders have until
Wednesday at Noon, to
purchase their seats from the regular season. The Hulman Center Box

Eastern Michigan is 22-7 on the
season, and advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-American
Conference Tournament. EMU won the MAC Western Division Regular
Season Championship.
The winner of Thursday’s EMU/
Indiana State
first round game will face off against the victor of Saturday
night’s contest between
Indiana and Jackson State
or Rice. Future game dates, sites and times are to be announced
based on the results of this weekend’s games. The Sycamores would
not play a second WNIT game any earlier than Monday, March 20.
