SYCAMORE DUO EARNS COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.
– Indiana State junior Laura Rudolphi (Carlyle,
Ill./Carlyle) and senior Rachel Maenpaa (Watertown,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) have each earned mention on the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic
All-District Five Teams. Rudolphi is a member of the first team
while Maenpaa earned second team plaudits.
Rudolphi, who carries a perfect 4.00 GPA is Business Insurance,
is averaging 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this year.
She scored 13 points in the MVC opener against Drake, and
followed that with 22 points against Creighton. She set a new
career-high with 23 points against Missouri State, hitting
9-of-15 shots from the field while tying her career-best with
four blocked shots against the Lady Bears.
Her 92 blocked shots are the best in the history of the program,
while her career field goal percentage of .542 ranks first in
the history of the school as well. Rudolphi ranks in the Top 10
in the Missouri Valley Conference in both scoring and
rebounding. Her 56.3% field goal percentage for the year is
26th-best in the nation.
Maenpaa, who carries a 3.63 GPA in English, is averaging 12.6
points and 5.8 rebounds per game this year. She posted 20
points, hitting a near school-record 10-of-11 field goals in a
101-71 victory over Loyola (Ill.). Maenpaa was named the MVC
Player of the Week for her efforts against Loyola (Ill.). She
scored 23 points at No. 12 Vanderbilt , and completed
back-to-back 10-of-17 shots from the field games to score a
career-high 25 points and nine rebounds in an 84-67 win over
Drake.
Her .470 career field goal percentage ranks tenth-best in the
history of the program. Maenpaa ranks in the Top 12 in The
Valley for both rebounds and points. She has played in 114
career games, which is fourth-most ever by a Sycamore women’s
basketball player.
This marks the second consecutive season in which two Sycamores
have earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Last season,
Melanie Boeglin and Kristen Weddle took the same honors en route
to Boeglin earning CoSIDA Academic All-American status following
the Final Four.
