SYCAMORES DOWN BRADLEY ON SENIOR DAY, 86-50

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rachel Maenpaa, in her final game in Hulman Center, scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Indiana State University Lady Sycamores dominated early and never looked back in defeating the Bradley Braves 86-50 in a Missouri Valley Conference game Sunday.

Maenpaa, 6-foot-1 senior from Watertown, Wis., was honored following the game.

The Sycamores connected on their first four shots and seven of their first eight as Indiana State rolled to an 18-0 lead. Bradley’s first bucket came with 14:30 left in the first half. The Sycamore defense kept up the pressure on the Braves as ISU went on a 16-2 run to increase their lead to 34-5 with 8:38 left. Indiana State had their biggest lead of the opening half with five seconds left on a jumper by Laura Rudolphi, 43-14. Bradley’s Devyn Flanagan connected just before the buzzer as ISU led 43-16 at the break.

The lead increase to 53-18 with 16:03 left in the game and increased to 65-21 at the 11:11 mark. Maenpaa’s final bucket in Hulman Center came with 6:27 left on a layup to put ISU up 76-36.

Laura Rudolphi led Indiana State in scoring with 19 points while Leah Phillips had 16, Kara Schilli came off the bench to score 14 and Maenpaa finished with 11. Rudolphi and Maenpaa had eight rebounds each while Angela Phillips had eight assists.

It was the fifth straight win and the sixth it the last seven games for Indiana State as the Sycamores improved to 17-10 overall and 10-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Sycamores will close out the regular season with a pair of road games, playing at Creighton next Thursday and at Drake next Saturday.
