INDIANA STATE JUNIOR LAURA RUDOLPHI EARNS VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

ST. LOUIS – Indiana State junior center Laura Rudolphi has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after helping the Sycamores to one of their finest home stands under head coach Jim Wiedie. The Sycamores, winners of their last five contests, picked up two key wins over the weekend, at home against Northern Iowa and Bradley, and Rudolphi played a key role in each those victories.

This is the first Valley Player of the Week honor for Rudolphi, who did earn MVC Newcomer of the Week status as a freshman one time.

She tallied 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the Sycamores downed their opponents by an average of 30 points over the weekend at Hulman Center. Rudolphi hit 11-of-17 shots from the field, and was 13-of-17 at the free throw line in the two victories. She added three assists as well as three blocked shots over the weekend.

Versus Northern Iowa, Rudolphi scored 16 points, hitting 5-of-6 shots from the field, and 6-of-9 free throws to help down the Panthers, 78-54. She added a pair of assists and blocked shots to the winning effort. Rudolphi was also a huge part of the Sycamores’ rebounding effort, pulling down nine caroms.

On Sunday, against Bradley, Rudolphi scored a team-best 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the 86-50 win over the Braves. Rudolphi hit 6-of-11 shots from the field, plus 7-of-8 free throws in the victory.

Indiana State returns to action on Thursday, March 1, when they travel to Creighton for a showdown with the Bluejays. The Sycamores defeated Creighton by a score of 89-62 back on New Year’s Eve at Hulman Center.
