KELSEY LUNA NAMED MISSOURI VALLEY FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
DES MOINES, Iowa

Indiana State guard Kelsey
Luna was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the
Year at the league’s annual Rawling’s Coach of the Year Banquet
this afternoon.
Luna is
the second Sycamore under head coach Jim Wiedie to be named the
Missouri Valley’s Freshman of the Year. Stephanie Lisch took the
same honor in 2004.
She
averages 11 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Luna leads the
league in 3-pointers made per game (2.55) as well as 3-point
field goal percentage (45.4%). Her 74 3-pointers this season are
just eight shy of the Indiana State record of 82, currently held
by Kourtney Mennen in 2002-03.
Nationally, Luna’s 2.55 3-pointers per game are 18th
best while her 45.4% 3-point field goal percentage is a
sparkling third.
