oDirect Contact refers to “physical” contact with an infected person or bodily fluid containing the pathogen; all four criteria for infection must be present (see previous slides)
nExample: You care for a laceration on an athletes arm (without using “universal precautions” (gloves in this case) and you have a cut on your hand which comes into “direct contact” with the blood from the athlete
