Dr. Eberman has
engaged 15 graduate and undergraduate students in serving Ironman
competitors at both the Lake
Placid and Louisville venues this summer.
Students volunteer as medical staff providing triage, evaluation,
diagnosis, and immediate care of athlete injuries following their
participation in one of the most challenging physical competition (2.4
miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling, and 26.2 of running).
The Center for Community Engagement and Strategic Planning (Domestic
Travel Grant) supported Athletic Training students who served the
citizens of New Orleans this summer.
Fifteen associated members of the Undergraduate Athletic Training
Program and one representative from Residential Life joined forces in
rebuilding homes in historic New Orleans.
In addition to serving the community, the students also attended
the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Symposium to enhance
their knowledge in the profession.
