Welcome to the website for the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing Completion! I am excited you have taken the time to stop at our page and learn about the distance education opportunities for nurses offered at Indiana State University.
The mission of the department is to develop competent, caring nursing professionals and productive citizens. Our mission is accomplished through distance teaching modalities, experiential learning at the local level, research, and community and public service. Our nursing program is recognized for maintaining standards and criteria for educational quality by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. and is fully accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
The Baccalaureate Nursing Completion Department currently offers two tracks to complete a bachelor's degree with a major in nursing:
Both programs are offered entirely in an online format to allow for flexibility while continuing your education to fit your busy lifestyle. Clinical rotations are arranged in your geographical location keeping you close to home. Whether you are an LVN/LPN or RN, earning a BS degree with a major in nursing, the importance of a baccalaureate degree cannot be overstated.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and other bodies have recommended that by the year 2020, 80% of the nursing workforce should be baccalaureate prepared. Furthermore, many health care institutions are requiring nurses have a baccalaureate degree at the initial hiring or to be promoted or even to remain in a current job. In addition a baccalaureate degree in nursing prepares you for graduate education in nursing.
Please take the time to look around our website. We look forward to
helping you achieve your educational goals here at Indiana State
