ISU Marching Sycamores

The Indiana State University Marching Sycamores is one of the most visible and active student organizations on the ISU campus. "The Pride of Indiana" has a long and proud tradition, performing for hundreds of thousands of people each year. Recent performances have included half-time shows at Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts games. The Marching Sycamores are at the center of the spirit of excitement of home football games held at ISU's Memorial Stadium. In addition, the band annually performs as the featured group for the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, at the Mid-States Marching Band Contest on the ISU campus, and in exhibition performances through out the area.

Creative musical arrangements, innovative drill designs, and a tradition of performance excellence place the Marching Sycamores at the forefront of the contemporary university marching band scene. A feature of the band is the Sparkettes, the band's fabulous auxiliary group consisting of color guard and dancers. "The Pride of Indiana" maintains and perpetuates many of the finest traditions of Indiana State University, and the band serves as a positive social organization and creative outlet for students from across the campus. The thrill of performing before thousands of fans and the life-long friendships you will develop will provide you with experiences treasured forever.

All regular members of the Marching Sycamores are eligible to receive a grant as part of their participation in the band. Students must sign an application by August 1 and meet all requirements of the syllabus. Band members are paid $50 during their first year, $100 in their second year, etc., with the grant increasing each year. Many upperclassmen may earn $400 or more by the end of the season.
