Graduate Programs

The faculty members that work in our center maintain an active group of graduate students who are involved in research that ranges from basic natural history to thermal physiology.  Currently we have students working on a physiological project that are examining the relationship between sleep and torpor, how male bats store sperm throughout winter, how calcium limitations impact the growth and development of young bats, if the effectiveness of bat fur as insulation changes with the seasons, and how bats respond to thermal challenges.  We also have students conducting studies to see how bats respond to different forest management practices, how urbanization influences the nocturnal behavior of bats, and how insects are distributed across the landscape.  In addition to working on bats all of the bat center faculty members have experience with a wide range of other wildlife, and we currently have students working on small mammals and crayfish.
