Nearly 100 Scott College of Business alumni, friends and industry partners attended the college's after-hours business networking event at the WellPoint atrium on Monument Circle in Indianapolis April 29.
We had a nice mix of recent and older alumni, industry partners and friends of the college, and we heard time and time again that it was a great event and that we need to do it again next year.
So, plans are already in motion to have an Indy reception next spring -- probably sometime in March. And, if you or your company is interested in helping us by supporting sponsorships, please let us know. Just contact Venus Pierce at Venus.Pierce@indstate.edu or at (812) 237-2000 for more details or go to www.indstate.edu/business/reception.
Indiana State University business alumnus Steve Whitman helped build a successful computer software company, but not in California's Silicon Valley. Instead, it was in Lexington, Ky. Because of his success and his time at Indiana State, he decided to give back.
The Whitman European Business Student Experience -- a study trip starting spring break of 2011 -- will educate students about European business operations, connect them with potential internship or jobs in Europe and make them more familiar with international business practices.
The West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, which operates from the fifth floor of the ISU Scott College of Business, is expanding to serve three additional counties.
Effective June 1, the West Central office will begin serving Monroe, Brown and Jackson counties. The West Central office will continue to serve residents of Clay, Parke, Putnam, Owen, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties. The mission of the Indiana Small Business Development Center network and its regional offices is to assist individuals in launching or growing their businesses.
