Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships are available on a limited basis.
Standards for appointment:
- Interested student must have regular admission status with the School of Graduate Studies
and be enrolled in
the Scott College of Business' M.B.A. Program.
- International students must demonstrate proficiency in written
and spoken English.
- Successful applicant must have an acceptable grade point average, an acceptable GMAT score, and be a full-time student.
Applicants must have at least a 3.0
undergraduate grade point average or 3.6 grade point average in 12 hours
of graduate work. In addition, a minimum GMAT score of 500 is required
for consideration. Funding for assistantships is
provided on a nine-month basis. Summer assistantships cannot be
guaranteed.
- The School of Graduate Studies awards a number of academic
tuition-waiver scholarships to graduate students. The scholarship covers
tuition fees for a specified number of hours determined by the M.B.A.
Director. Students will still be responsible for building services,
student services fees, as well as any other required University fees.
- The stipend for the graduate assistantship is approximately $8,000 per
year, both in-state or out-of-state tuition. Although assistantships are
awarded only for fall and spring terms, in many cases tuition for summer
school will also be included (commitment of 15 hours per week). Scott College
of Business graduate assistants undertake a variety of duties in the
College and University. These duties may include department faculty
support, working in College of Business administrative offices, and
working with the College's Small Business Development Center, or in support
of faculty research. Most assistantships are normally awarded in
April/May for the following fall. A small number of assistantships may
be awarded in December for spring term although these are subject to
availability. Generally, an assistantship represents a commitment of 20
hours per week, and individuals are expected to not hold other
employment. All full-time students, including international
students, are eligible to receive a graduate assistantship.
Part-time students are not eligible.
To apply for assistantships:
Interested individuals
must receive a Regular Admission to the School of Graduate Studies and
be enrolled in 9 credit hours of MBA classes. Submit a Graduate
Assistantship Form, a Background Check Authorization form, a Work Resume
along with all your application materials to The School of Graduate
Studies or you may also submit the application forms to the MBA Program
office (Scott College of Business, Room 1021) upon your enrollment in MBA classes.
